The District Court of Oulu has imposed conditional prison sentences ranging from 50 days to 6 months as well as a fine of EUR 40,000 on four men aged 30 to 32, for maintaining a topsite called Angel Falls. Topsites represent the highest form of international and organized piracy. They allow release groups to upload illicitly acquired copyright-protected works on high-speed servers. The works are then distributed to other topsites, private users, and public global copyright-infringing sites. The Angel Falls topsite consisted of 15 servers with vast selections of music, movies, TV series, games, software, books, and magazines. It had a particular focus on Finnish materials.
