From 15 June to 15 September 2025, the UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) prohibits outdoor work between 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm to protect workers from extreme heat. Employers must adjust shift schedules, provide shaded rest areas, and implement safety protocols. Non-compliance may result in fines of AED 5,000 per affected worker, up to AED 50,000.

Exceptions apply to urgent and essential work involving public services, such as emergency repairs to utilities, traffic infrastructure, or basic services. These activities remain subject to MoHRE guidance.

Dalal Alshehhi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Protection at MoHRE, noted that private sector partners are actively supporting the initiative through additional measures. The midday break aligns with the UAE’s commitment to worker welfare and international safety standards and forms part of broader national strategies, including “We the UAE 2031”.

Employers are advised to document compliance, including shift logs, temperature records, and safety briefings, to demonstrate adherence during inspections.
