OTTAWA, April 14, 2008 - The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointments:

The Honourable J. Christopher Grauer , a lawyer with Dives, Grauer & Harper in Vancouver is appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court of British Columbia.

Mr. Justice Grauer is replacing Mr. Justice Bryan F. Ralph (Vancouver) who resigned. Mr. Justice Grauer received a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Toronto in 1979 and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia in 1974. He was admitted to the Bar of British Columbia in 1981. Mr. Justice Grauer has been with Dives, Grauer & Harper since 1999 and was one of the founding partners. He was also a partner with Bull, Housser & Tupper, Barristers & Solicitors from 1988 to 1999, and an associate lawyer and junior partner with that firm from 1981 to 1988. He has acted as one of the lead counsel for the Risk Management Branch of the Ministry of Finance, for the Province of British Columbia. Mr. Justice Grauer is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Medical-Legal Society of British Columbia.

This appointment is effective immediately.
