MBIP is pleased to announce another major milestone in its growth journey: the successful completion of its merger with Jones Tulloch.
Joining MBIP’s existing team of 11 attorneys are six new pharmaceutical consultants & patent attorneys, four of whom have PhD qualifications in the biotechnology and chemistry fields. The acquisition will bolster MBIP’s service offerings in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, and present new opportunities to both clients and staff by combining resources and expertise.
“With this merger, MBIP is not just expanding our team, we’re expanding the depth of our expertise and the services we can offer. Our enhanced team means we can deliver even better strategic, commercially-driven solutions for our clients, across all areas of innovation”, says Jeremy Moller, Principal.
Andy Mukherji, Principal adds “This merger firmly positions MBIP as one of the few boutique top tier IP firms in Australia with capabilities across all technical sectors including contentious matters. MBIP now has presence across two major cities giving us true national presence. We are very excited about our future and a number of exciting appointments will be announced in the coming months.”
Ellen Reid, Principal is equally thrilled about the merge, “This marks an incredible milestone for Jones Tulloch. We are thrilled to be joining forces with the talented team at MBIP. As a united entity, our service capabilities now cover a wide range of scientific disciplines. I am confident our united team will bring significant benefits to our clients, particularly those clients working in interdisciplinary technology spaces. Science no longer sits in defined silos and neither should IP.”
This exciting news comes after several years of rapid growth for MBIP, just some markers of which include the ongoing addition of many new staff members, the opening of two new offices in 2024 (one of which marked the firm’s official expansion into Melbourne), and an upwards trend of incoming overseas filings. 2025 has been a year of transformation, with the announcement of a rebrand in February which saw the firm’s name updated from Michael Buck IP to MBIP.
The integration of the MBIP and Jones Tulloch teams serves as the next step in the firms’ evolution and will deepen MBIP’s expansion into Victoria to strengthen its national presence.
