Gordon Chan is a Hong Kong barrister. Before joining the bar, he trained as a biochemist and worked on the quality and safety of a major public hospital. He has extensive experience in the medicolegal and healthcare fields and regularly advises medical practitioners on various issues. He also acted as an advocate in death inquests in the Coroner’s Court.
Gordon is a former member of the Department of Justice who advised law enforcement agencies on regulatory offences related to food, drugs, and healthcare institutions. He has experience handling expert evidence in complex medical, psychiatric, and technical cases, including homicide, sexual cases, and those involving technology and digital evidence. He has acted as an advocate in both criminal trials and appeals. Foreign law firms have also approached him concerning criminal matters in Hong Kong.
Gordon is also passionate about writing and teaching. He is the editor for public health of Archbold Hong Kong and a law lecturer at the University of Hong Kong.
