Amjad Hussain

Amjad Hussain is the senior partner of the Doha office of K&L Gates and the Middle East regional lead for the firm’s Finance, Corporate and Asset Management practice groups. He is widely recognised as one of the most experienced Islamic finance, banking, capital markets and regulatory lawyers in Qatar and the Gulf, with more than two decades of advising sovereign entities, financial institutions, investment funds, corporates and family offices in the Middle East. He is highly regarded by the clients, who praise his negotiation skills, commercial reasoning and ability to solve intricate regulatory and transactional issues efficiently.

Amjad has over 18 years of experience advising on the laws of Qatar and the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), following earlier practice in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). His transactional experience includes some of the region’s most significant Islamic finance and corporate matters, including Qatar’s first corporate sukuk, the landmark Masraf Al Rayan-Al Khalij Commercial Bank merger, and long-standing advisory mandates for nationally strategic developments.
