Simon Dunbar is a founder and Joint Managing Director of Dunbar & Lim Chambers.
He acts as both advocate and arbitrator, focusing on joint-venture, energy, technology, infrastructure and investor-state disputes. With around 20 years of practice, including more than 18 years based in Singapore, Simon has been involved in some of Asia’s most complex and high-value disputes.
Examples include securing an award of US$ 158 million in an ICC arbitration concerning a nuclear power plant, and defending a state-owned entity against US$ 1.69 billion in counterclaims in a dispute regarding an offshore oil field.
Simon is admitted to practise in Singapore, England & Wales and New York, and has experience of both common and civil law systems.
Before co-founding Dunbar & Lim Chambers, Simon was a partner in the global disputes practice of a leading international law firm, based in Singapore, having spent more than 17 years at international law firms in Singapore and New York.
In addition to his work as counsel, Simon regularly sits as arbitrator. He has served as sole or presiding arbitrator in arbitrations under the SIAC, ICC and UNCITRAL Rules, as well as ad hoc arbitrations, and has issued multiple awards over the last 14 years.
