Brendan Bowles is certified as a specialist in construction law by the Law Society of Ontario. In 2021 he was the recipient of the Ontario Bar Association’s Award of Excellence in Construction and Infrastructure Law.
He acts regularly for a variety of clients in the mediation and arbitration of construction disputes, and has appeared at all levels of Ontario courts, up to and including the Court of Appeal. He has significant experience in various types of construction claim cases, including construction liens, delay claims, construction deficiencies and professional negligence.
Brendan is an Associate of Canadian Surety Bonding (ACSB). This designation is conferred by the Surety Association of Canada upon the completion of courses at the University of Toronto in suretyship, construction and surety law, accounting and business. He has also authored and co-authored articles on various topics related to construction law, and the text Conduct of Lien, Trust and Adjudication Proceedings.
Brendan served on the executive of the construction and infrastructure law section of the Ontario Bar Association for 15 years, including as chair in the 2015-2016 term. Currently he is the Chair of the Advocates’ Society Arbitration and Mediation Practice Group.
Brendan served as the Chair of the Advocates’ Society Arbitration and Mediation Practice Group in 2023-24.
