Javier Uhthoff-Orive is an attorney specialised in the field of intellectual property. As a senior partner and head of the patent department at Uhthoff, he has substantial experience representing numerous clients, mostly helping multinational companies to protect different types of innovation. He advises clients in an extensive array of industries, operating primarily in Mexico, Europe, North America, Asia and Latin America. Javier Uhthoff-Orive has established a leading international reputation for IP and specifically patent matters, and has been recognised as an IP luminary.
He began his practice at Uhthoff in 1984 and was appointed partner of the firm in 1989. He holds a degree, with specialism in industrial property; transfer/technology; patents and trademarks; foreign investments; and copyrights, from Anáhuac University’ in Mexico City. Additionally, he studied at the Japanese Institute of Invention and Innovation in Tokyo, Japan, obtaining certification in foreign investment and industrial property rights.
