Jose Alzate has over ten years of experience providing financial and economic advice to clients, often in the context of a dispute.
Jose advises on the valuation of businesses, shares and intangible assets across various industries (including damages calculations and assessments of losses). Jose also provides other types of economic advice, for instance in the determination of FRAND or reasonable royalty rates, or in complex issues involving the use of economic modelling and econometrics. Jose has worked across a range of industries, such as infrastructure (renewable and traditional energy, transport concessions), intellectual property (pharma/biotechnology, music), and sectors such as hospitality and consumer products, among others.
Jose has prepared damages and valuation reports for submission in litigations before various courts and in international arbitrations under the rules of the ICC, ICSID, ICDR, LCIA, SCC and UNCITRAL. Jose has been appointed as an expert witness and has given oral evidence before arbitral tribunals in ICC and UNCITRAL arbitrations.
Jose was part of FTI Consulting’s Valuation & Damages team in London, United Kingdom, for almost 10 years, and moved to Bogotá in July 2025 with the objective of setting up the firm’s Valuation & Damages practice in the Latin America region.
