Lexology are delighted to announce the winners of the 15th annual Global Counsel Awards, held in association with the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC).
The winning names in the regional Asia-Pacific Counsel Awards, European Counsel Awards and Latin American Counsel Awards have also been revealed.
Launched in 2007, the Global Counsel Awards recognise the excellent work done by corporate in-house legal teams and individuals.
Head of Research at the Global Counsel Awards, Rupert Wilson, commented:
“2021 saw the difficulties of 2020 continuing as the Covid-19 pandemic swept the globe. The pandemic has had a huge impact within the legal sector, as a host of complex challenges were brought to the fore.
This year’s Global Counsel Awards reflect these difficulties, with many of the nominees working in sectors particularly affected by the global disruption, including pharmaceuticals, aviation and hospitality.
As ever, the aim of the Global Counsel Awards is to reward lawyers for notable achievements across the full spectrum of in-house responsibility, not simply those who have acted on high-profile matters.
We would like to thank all of those who participated in the process for once again helping to identify so many deserving, standout names.”
With the help of participants worldwide, the research team collected nominations for in-house lawyers and legal departments worldwide, with thousands of individual recommendations received from corporate counsel and law firm partners.
In selecting the shortlists and winners, the Global Counsel Awards research team has focused on criteria such as effective communication, legal understanding, commercial awareness, depth and strength of team, and management skills, in addition to any significant projects or transactions.
