Philipp Groz is a partner in Schellenberg Wittmer's Dispute Resolution team. He heads the firm's Intellectual Property team and co-heads the Life Sciences group. He represents clients in litigation before Swiss courts and in international arbitrations in all types of IP, trade secrets, and unfair competition disputes, and in a wide range of contractual and product liability disputes. He also sits as an arbitrator. Philipp frequently assists clients in drafting and negotiating licensing, R&D, manufacturing, supply, distribution, sponsoring, franchising, and other agreements. He also advises on IP aspects of transactions. His practice further includes regulatory and advertising matters.
Philipp's expertise in arbitration matters includes: acting as counsel in a US$210 million ICC arbitration between two major pharmaceutical companies (US and German) regarding the supply of a non-conforming drug product; acting as counsel for a leading luxury goods company in a Swiss Rules arbitration against a former distributor; and acting as presiding arbitrator in a Swiss Rules arbitration arising out of a patent and know-how license agreement in the chemical industry.
