Georgia Appeals Court overturns ruling vacating air permit for coal-fired plant

On July 7, 2009, the Georgia Court of Appeals issued a decision reversing and remanding a significant portion of a June 30, 2008, ruling of the Georgia Superior Court, which had invalidated the issuance of an air quality preconstruction permit for a coal-fired electric power plant in southern Georgia.

Georgia Supreme Court confirms no CO2 limits for power plant

A unanimous Georgia Supreme Court denied a petition for certiorari filed by the Sierra Club and a coalition of environmental groups who are challenging the construction of the first coal-fired power plant to be built in Georgia in two decades.
