SEC’s investigation request reveals scope of sweep of advisory firms regarding relationships with sovereign wealth funds

Earlier this year, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reportedly sent information requests to at least 10 US-based financial institutions, including hedge and private equity fund sponsors in an ongoing investigation focused on possible violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977 (FCPA) as a result of their business relationships with sovereign wealth funds (SWFs).
