On 28 October 2010, the Central Bank of Ireland (the Central Bank) published consultation paper CP47 on proposed revisions to the Consumer Protection Code (CPC). Proposed changes include more prescriptive "know the consumer" requirements, more rigorous requirements for assessing the suitability of products or services, the inclusion of a definition of "vulnerable consumer", more robust disclosure and transparency requirements, new requirements for product producers to identify target markets and new requirements for assessing affordability. Feedback and questions are sought by 10 January 2011, with a view to publishing a revised CPC in mid-2011.
