• The high income threshold for a guarantee of annual earnings and the unfair dismissal cap has increased to $118,100 per annum for the 2011/2012 financial year.  The maximum compensation for unfair dismissals has also increased to $59,050 for dismissals occurring on or after 1 July 2011.

  • The Federal Magistrates’ Court has fined former director of Centennial Financial Services Pty Ltd, Rolf Mertes, $13,200 and former Human Resources Manager, Christopher Chorazy, $3,750.  These penalties follow findings by the Court that Messrs Mertes and Chorazy were personally liable for their involvement in the employer’s failure to pay statutory minimum entitlements and implementation of sham contracting arrangements.
