The Equality and Human Rights Commission has launched a Consultation on proposals within the Equality Bill to introduce gender pay reporting for employers with more than 250 employees in the private and voluntary sector. The EHRC is seeking views on how best to measure the gender pay gap and how this information should be reported in order to increase transparency. The aim of the consultation is to encourage employers to introduce voluntary reporting so that the Government will not be required to implement the mandatory reporting provision within the Equality Bill. The Government has committed to delay the use of this power to at least 2013. Responses should be submitted to the EHRC before 28 October 2009.
