The Landmarks Preservation Commission is considering yet another Historic District in New York City. Click here to see an initial draft of the map.
The District is not yet “calendared,” so owners who file plans at the Department of Buildings will not yet be affected. However, we are told that “letters” have just been sent to property owners within the proposed boundary area informing them that the Commission is considering a District.
In our experience, once proposed, new Districts typically move forward. Keeping in mind that this Administration has nine or so months left, we will be watching this carefully. Although this would be fast, the designation process could begin prior to the end of the Administration’s term.
