FSA has finalised its guidance on traded life policy investments (TLPIs). The guidance confirms TLPIs should not be promoted to most retail investors in the UK. FSA says the products, which essentially bet on the lives of groups of US investors, and are often packaged as unregulated collective investment schemes, are often marketed inappropriately. The guidance is an interim measure as FSA intends to consult on new rules that will impose significant restrictions on promoting non-mainstream investments to the retail market.
