Although there is not yet any official statement on the website of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC), the Commissioner announced in a speech yesterday that the OPC is temporarily suspending its Consultation on Transborder Dataflows in the wake of the announcement earlier this week of Canada's new Digital Charter.

The situation remains fluid as to when the OPC consultations will resume and what new questions the revised consultation will put forward. We continue to monitor and will provide updates as soon as we know more.
