The new Bribery Act 2010 also survived in the parliamentary wash-up process. This creates offences of:
- bribing another person;
- being bribed;
- bribing foreign public officials; and
- failure of commercial organisations to prevent bribery.
The maximum penalty for the offences is 10 years' imprisonment and/or an unlimited fine. The Act will not take effect until the Secretary of State makes a commencement order.
