The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is consulting on two sets of draft regulations relating to employers’ obligations under the Pensions Act 2008 to automatically enrol employees into the personal accounts scheme or their own qualifying workplace pension scheme.
The first set of draft regulations provides more detail on the scope of employers’ automatic enrolment obligations. The DWP intends for these draft regulations to come into force at the same time as the new obligations, currently scheduled for 2012.
The second draft regulations will allow the Pensions Regulator to delegate certain compliance powers under the new regime to other public and private bodies. These draft regulations are intended to be in force in autumn 2009.
