In order to promote education and knowledge in renewable energy, the University of Forestry Sciences (UNACIFOR by its Spanish acronym) inaugurated the project: "Implementation of a Dendroenergy Program with the Strengthening of Analytical Laboratories for Research and Technology Transfer" in Honduras.
The project was supported by the Debt Conversion Program of Honduras with Spain, administered by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE by its Spanish acronym), which granted 47.3 million lempiras for the execution. BCIE promotes the development of energy generation in the region, with an investment of more than US$1,324.2 million in 14 projects under development, two years after the implementation of the Institutional Strategy 2015-2019 "Integrating Development and Sustainable Competitiveness".
Dendroenergy is the energy produced with forest biomass coming from trees. With the start-up of this project, UNACIFOR will contribute to the sustainable development of the country with the preparation and organization of seven laboratories, consolidating research capacities of human capital through the dendroenergy specialization.
