Yesterday, the Department of Energy released a record of decision that formally revived the FutureGen project. The record of decision doesn’t commit to the construction of the facility. Rather, over the next eight to ten months, the FutureGen Alliance will complete a preliminary design of the facility and a cost estimate, among other aspects of the project. A final decision on whether to actually build the project is expected in the first half of 2010.
