The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) recently announced the launch of Project Catalyst, an initiative that seeks to “encourage consumer-friendly innovation and entrepreneurship in markets for consumer financial products and services,” according to a press release from the bureau. Project Catalyst will enable the CFPB to better engage with those companies at the forefront of innovation and to better understand new and emerging products and trends in the marketplace. The bureau has already partnered with three companies — BillGuard, Plastyc and Simple — with the intention of analyzing their data to gain insight about “consumer behaviors and trends” that will ultimately shape policy decisions, the release said.
