The EU Commission has launched details of its proposals for European Long-term Investment Funds (ELTIFs), private funds which will only invest in businesses that need long term capital (such as infrastructure products). ELTIFs are designed to increase the amount of non-bank finance available for companies investing in the real economy of the EU. The proposal will be presented to the European Council on 27 and 28 June 2013, where long-term financing of the real economy is on the agenda.
