Four corporations settled FTC charges separately (see here, here, here and here) for misrepresenting their compliance with the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield framework.

The Privacy Shield framework allows companies to legally transfer consumer data between the European Union and Switzerland to the United States. According to the FTC, the four corporations falsely identified themselves as participants in the framework. To settle the charges, the four corporations agreed to, among other things, a prohibition against further misrepresentations and additional compliance monitoring and recordkeeping obligations.
