On 13 November 2007, the House of Lords Select Committee on Regulators published its first report. The Committee, which was appointed "to consider the regulatory process" has concluded that the legislation establishing the regulators is working well. It has made recommendations in relation to the standardisation of the regulators' remits, the use of impact assessments, cooperation between  regulators and the formation of a sessional Select Committee to provide greater parliamentary oversight of regulatory bodies in the UK. The Committee has also considered the future possibility of removing sectoral regulators as competition becomes more established in the regulated sectors
