Or rather you pay soya beans you get monkeys. A restaurant in Japan has recruited two macaques to serve drinks and hand out towels to customers. The primates were household pets whose owners noticed them aping human tasks. Spotting the potential for the family business the owner handed one of the monkeys a towel and watched as he gave it to a customer. They are now passing beers round to satisfied customers in the bar and proving to be a great attraction. Japan’s human waiting force need not be too concerned though. The animals are restricted to working for two hours each day under Japan’s animal rights legislation.
