On 8 May the Queen’s Speech set out the Government’s proposed legislative programme for the new parliamentary session. One of the proposed bills is the new immigration bill. The bill is yet to be published and the details provided so far are limited. What is known, however, is that the bill seeks to target the following areas:
- access to services
- enforcement and appeals
- Article 8 (the right to family and private life under the Human Rights Act)
The proposed changes will have an impact on migrants' access to the NHS, private landlords, and employers.
