In a move intended to reduce costs to businesses and to ensure a more level playing field between co-operatives and companies, the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation has reduced certain fees imposed on co-operative societies by the Registrar of Friendly Societies.
Statutory Instrument No. 363 of 2012 revises the fees to be paid for matters to be transacted or for the inspection of documents under the Industrial and Provident Societies Acts,1893 to 1978, and sets the fees to be paid for matters to be transacted under the European Communities (European Co-operative Society) Regulations 2009. This move has resulted in virtually identical fees being imposed on co-operatives and companies.
The attached table illustrates the changes to co-operative fees for some of the more common fees charged by the Registrar of Friendly Societies.
