IOSCO has published a report on trading of OTC derivatives. It looks at the costs and benefits of increasing exchange and electronic trading of OTC derivatives. It finds it is appropriate to trade standardised derivatives with a suitable degree of liquidity on organised platforms and thinks a flexible definition of an "organised platform" would maximise the products that can be traded on those venues. The report also covers the characteristics a platform should have and how regulators can work to increase organised platform trading of these products.
