Basel Committee consults on supervisory guidelines for weak banks: The Basel Committee is consulting on how supervisors should identify and deal with weak banks. Its paper considers:

  • principles for and implementation of corrective action;
  • dealing with different types of weakness, such as weaknesses in capital, governance, business strategy and risk management;
  • resolution techniques; and
  • problems specific to certain institutions such as conglomerates, global systemically important banks and cross-border issues.

It asks for comment by 19 September. (Source: Basel Committee Consults on Supervisory Guidelines for Weak Banks)
