A DWP consultation seeks views on the design of a new medical “fit note” which will replace the current sick note. The fit note will help people get advice about remaining in employment or if unable to work, how their employer can help them return to work sooner. The new system will be computer generated by GP surgeries and is expected to be rolled out in Spring 2010. Consultation process closes 19th August 2009.
