On 15 February 2021, the Dutch Central Bank (DNB) published a press release (in Dutch only) in which it announced that it will pay close attention to the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on the pension sector in 2021. According to DNB, the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on funding ratios is significant and many funds are below the legal requirements. DNB states that it will pay a lot of attention to monitoring the funding ratios. DNB furthermore states that another area of concern is that COVID-19 shows that cyber and outsourcing risks are a real threat. DNB will therefore carry out a targeted research on information security and outsourcing relationships and concentrations with third parties in 2021.
