U.S. oilfield services company Halliburton has disclosed that it is conducting an internal investigation after receiving an anonymous email regarding its Angolan operations. The email, received in December 2010, claimed that certain current and former employees violated the FCPA through the use of an Angolan vendor.

In an SEC filing, the company disclosed that “[t]he email also alleges conflicts of interest, self-dealing and the failure to act on alleged violations of [the company’s Code of Business Conduct] and the FCPA.”

After advising the DOJ of the probe, the company said it met with the DOJ and the SEC to brief them and provide documents. According to the SEC filing, the investigation is still “at an early stage.”
