The O-1 visa is traditionally regarded as a work permit for actors, artists and, of course, designers engaged in the fashion industry.  But there are other individuals engaged in the international fashion industry who may also avail themselves of this temporary work visa to the USA.  For example, executives and managers who have pioneered a marketing campaign or who have successfully guided a fashion, makeup or perfume company to the forefront of the industry may be eligible under the “super executive” visa category, otherwise known as a person of  extraordinary ability in the sciences or business.  Unlike other visas, the O-1 visa does not restrict time spent in the USA.  It also does not require compliance with burdensome Department of Labor procedures such as one encounters with the H1b visa.  Instead, in the fashion industry, the O-1 visa allows distinguished executives and managers to obtain this long term work permit.
