The privacy landscape is rapidly shifting. Multiple states have enacted new comprehensive privacy laws. Both the newly constituted California Privacy Protection Agency and the Federal Trade Commission are expected to soon launch rulemakings to enact new privacy regulations. Groundbreaking guidance and decisions are coming out of the EU, and the post-Brexit U.K. has announced plans to reform its data protection law. The panel identified commonalities and trends in emerging privacy frameworks and provided practical tips and best practices for companies to operationalize a risk-based, coherent approach to complying with global data privacy laws.
