On 6 June 2013, Members of Parliament from all three major parties debated the controversial issues surrounding student visas.  Five parliamentary select committees have recommended that international students be removed from the government’s net migration target.

Ahead of the debate, Universities UK issued a briefing paper which can be read here.

The full parliamentary debate can be accessed here.

Penningtons will provide further updates as they become available.  However, Tier 4 sponsors should note that, regardless of whether students are taken out of net migration targets, compliance remains a top priority for the Home Office, and sponsors must ensure that their procedures for recruiting and monitoring international students remain robust.
