A report with the title ‘The right of inquiry, an empirical study’ was submitted to the Lower House of Parliament in February 2009. The study was carried out by the Universities of Groningen and Rotterdam. The study shows that the corporate inquiry procedure meets a clear public need. Of particular significance is the fact that the Enterprise Chamber (which hears these cases) can grant immediate relief at any stage of the proceedings. The data emerging from the study will be used to improve the existing law on corporate inquiry. The Minister of Justice aims to complete a preliminary bill in the second half of this year.
