On 14 October 2010, the European Commission granted clearance under the EU Merger Regulation of the acquisition by Brookfield Asset Management Inc. (Brookfield) of sole control of Prime Infrastructure Group (Prime). Brookfield is a global asset manager investing in property, renewable power and infrastructure assets based in Canada. Its global portfolio includes premier office properties and hydroelectric power generation facilities. Prime is an Australian infrastructure fund listed on the Australian Stock Exchange which manages an international portfolio of infrastructure assets, principally in the transport, energy distribution and transmission sectors. The operation was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.
