Following a complaint of maladministration, the European Ombudsman has been examining the European Parliament's (Parliament) handling of a call for tender for the renovation of an EU institutional building in Malta. On 16 April 2009, the Ombudsman, having reviewed the basis of the Parliament's scoring of tender bids, concluded that its actions had not been manifestly unreasonable. However, the Ombudsman did observe that there had been an error in the complainants' ranking and it should have scored second rather than third (a point which the Parliament has conceded).
