European Union, United Kingdom, USA June 4 2013

It looks like the EU and the US are going to launch trade liberalisation talks in July. The trade representatives on both sides of the Atlantic point to benefits in the billions of Euros (and dollars) annually. The idea is to try and remove all remaining tariffs and to tacke non tariff barriers to trade (different standards) The hope is to have the deal wrapped up by the Autumn of 2014. It's an ambitious programme. And it won't be easy. Just think of the US wanting the EU to accept Genetically Modified Plants and the US to protext European quality products like Parma Ham or Parmigiano.
