EBA has published its first analysis of asset encumbrance among EU banking institutions. EBA carried out the study to help it assess the sustainability of bank funding models. The results show no indication of an increase in levels of asset encumbrance over recent years. From now on, EBA intends to monitor trends in the level of total asset encumbrance on a yearly basis.
