The United States Department of Labor (DOL) has issued a new Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) poster that covered employers must post as of today, March 8, 2013. Generally speaking, a covered employer has 50 or more employees. The new FMLA poster can be found here: http://www.dol.gov/whd/regs/compliance/posters/fmla.htm
In addition, the DOL has issued updated FMLA forms that covered employers should begin using immediately. The updated FMLA forms can be found here under Forms: http://www.dol.gov/whd/fmla/
The DOL updated the poster and forms in connection with recent changes to the FMLA, including expansion of military caregiver and qualifying exigency leave and regulations affecting flight crews. With these changes, employers also should review and update their written FMLA policy. Failure to do so will result in an outdated policy.
