Guidance has been published by The Equality and Human Rights Commission on what small businesses that employ 20 or less staff can do to prevent discrimination and litigation. Furthermore, the Commission has published guidance on human rights issues for smaller businesses.

The first publication, ‘The Equality Act: Guidance for Small Business’ outlines how the Equality Act 2010 is applicable to small businesses and how they can ensure that what they are doing is legal. The guide defines legal terms and gives practical advice in helping small businesses in the recruitment and promotion of employees.

The second publication, ‘A guide to business and human rights’ outlines the way in which smaller businesses should identify and manage human rights issues that could arise within their workplace.
