On Saturday, December 21, 2013, the Official State Gazette published Royal Decree-Act 16/2013, dated 20 December, on measures to encourage stable employment and improve the employability of workers.

The regulation, which entered into force on December 22, 2013, contains a series of measures designed to promote part-time work, increase the flexibility of working time and, in general, encourage stable employment. The measures highlight the possibility of part-time entrepreneur support contracts, the reduction of trial periods in temporary agreements of up to six months to a maximum of one month and an increase in the period of reduced working hours for child care, the maximum age of children for such purposes increasing from 8 to 12 years of age.
