Ohio's new PA Formulary was recently finalized and goes into effect on February 28, 2008.
Prior to February 28, 2008, PAs with prescriptive authority have been utilizing the APN Formulary on an interim basis.
Health care facilities with PAs who have prescriptive authority should review the PA Formulary. The PA Formulary contains detailed rules for which drugs a PA with prescriptive authority can prescribe, which drugs the PA cannot prescribe, and which drugs the PA can prescribe only after physician consultation. This Formulary represents the maximum scope of a PA’s prescriptive authority. A health care facility or the PA’s supervising physician may restrict the PA’s prescriptive authority further if desired.
