The President of the Employment Tribunals (England and Wales) has issued two Directions, the first ordering all current and future claims challenging the UK default retirement age to be stayed pending the ECJ's decision in the Heyday case. This will be reviewed once the Court of Appeal has looked at the issue in Johns v Solent SD Ltd (see our September/October 2007 ebulletin).

The second stays agency worker claims to employment status pending the Court of Appeal's decision in James v London Borough of Greenwich (the EAT decision is reported in our December 2006/January 2007 ebulletin).

Both directions are available here.
