Further to the publication by the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) of guidelines on insurers’ best practices when dealing with complaints in June 2012, EIOPA has now published translations of in all of the official languages of the EU. National supervisory authorities must indicate their intention to comply with the guidelines (or, failing that, reasons for non-compliance) to EIOPA by 15 January 2013. For that purpose, EIOPA has published a compliance table for supervisors so that different responses may be given in respect of the various parts of the guidelines EIOPA has also published an illustrative “one-minute guide” to the guidelines to aid supervisors.
